Reading an Explanation of Benefits

How to read an Explanation of Benefits

After you see your doctor, go to the hospital, or receive other medical services, your GE Health Choice plan administrator will send you an Explanation of Benefits, or EOB. This is a statement that details the services performed, the amounts to be billed, and how much you and GE Health Choice owe to the provider.

It will include items like the amount covered by your GE Health Choice plan; the amount you owe after all contracted discounts and rules have been applied; the amount applied toward your yearly deductible; and more. While state and federal laws require all EOBs to provide certain information, each GE Health Choice plan administrator has a different form.
